Summer holiday camp-summer break 2012

Day camp is a fun and active way for your child to spend their time out of school. Children will be instructed by a qualified Early Childhood Educator/member of the Certified Horsemanship Association, the Ontario Equestrian Federation, and the American Quarter Horse Association. Beaver Creek Ranch holds current Liability Insurance. Safety will be a priority.

Volunteers as well as paid staff may also be participating in the program.

Children will learn horsemanship skills, partake in crafts, and games, and learn some new skills such as playing horseshoes, and roping.

Children are encouraged to bring a bag lunch, and snacks

*in months that burning is permitted, we may provide apples, s'mores, popcorn, or marshmallows to roast over a bon fire during one of our snack breaks.

*We will be shortening our hours to 8:30 am -4:30 pm, if you require an earlier opening time and a later pick up time please let us know*

Beaver Creek Ranch Day Camp Program

During your child’s day at the ranch they will participate in varied outdoor/indoor experiences. All activities are geared to the group in attendance. Experience is not necessary

A typical day may be as follows;

8:30 am-9am arrival of child

9am-10am care for horses/shovel manure/clean tack, etc.

10am-10:15 snack

10:15-12:00 horsemanship/theory/practical (riding)

12:00-1:00 lunch/free time

1:00-2:00 craft/art/games

2:00-3:45 activities such as canoeing/ sliding/ skating/ exploring/ horse riding/wagon ride/Zip line 

3:45-4:00 snack

3:00-4:30 departure/chores

*Daily schedules may change depending on the weather and on your child’s needs/interests

What your Child requires at the Ranch

Your child will be spending a large portion of their day out of doors, so please send them with clothing appropriate to the weather.

• Sunscreen/chap stick

• Hats(wide brimmed)/toque

• Sweater/jacket/ski pants/snow suit/gloves mittens

• Extra pants/extra socks                   

• Full length pants/splash pants

• Bag lunch/snacks/drinks/water

• Allergy medication/antihistamine/epinephrine

• If your child owns an ASTM certified riding helmet feel free to send it with your child, otherwise one will be provided for them.

• Riding boots/rubber boots(the children will be walking on manure and possibly mud)

• Riding footwear must have a minimum 1.5 cm heel with a 90 degree notch (no fashion boots please). Rubber boots with a smooth bottom may work well if you child does not own riding boots. Let us know if you are unable to find any appropriate riding footwear before you child attends camp, as we may be able to assist you.

• Good clothes-your child will get dirty and they will ruin their good clothes

Where is Beaver Creek Ranch?

The Ranch is located on the Anderson (branch) Road. Follow Veteran’s drive through the Bypass/Redditt Rd

Who is running the program?                           

Amanda Boucha is the camp director and owner/operator of Beaver Creek Ranch. Amanda is a Qualified Early Childhood Educator, has completed the University of Guelph’s Equine Business Management Program, and is a member of the Certified Horsemanship Association, and the Ontario Equestrian Federation.

Volunteers as well as paid staff may be present.

Cost and Payment

To hold a spot a $100 non refundable deposit is required before camp starts.

The remainder owed is due on the first day of camp.

 Payment for single day sessions is due before or on the first day of the camp session.

 Cheques, money orders, and cash are accepted.

Cheques are made out to Beaver Creek Ranch.

A five day session will cost $265.55

Less than 5 days during a 5 day session is $57/day

Concession

Concession items will be available to your child during breaks and lunch time, we have items such as milk, water, juice, and pop, hotdogs, fries, chicken fingers, bagged chips, popcorn,  yogurt, bananas, and apples, freezies, and popsicles, Items range in price from .50 cents-$3.00

Other Important items

*Once registered, refunds will not be issued. In the event your child is unwell and you are able to provide a Doctor’s note stating that you child is unable to participate your child may attend a make up session.

*Sessions will not be cancelled due to weather, should a session be cancelled by unforeseen events a make up class will be scheduled as soon as possible.

*$100 non refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. The remaining payment is due on the first day of attendance.

*Receipts will be issued for the Sports tax credit.
